Johanna Lecklin works with moving image, participatory art projects, and photography. In her recent works she explores narrativity and storytelling. She is interested in experimenting on the border of documentary and fiction. Especially her early works are performance videos with a feministic approach, which mimic gestures or habits that reveal power relations. She has also made interviews, video portraits of people.

Lecklin has had several solo exhibitions, for example in Forum Box in Helsinki, Finland in 2013 and in Haninge Art Hall in Sweden in 2012. She has also taken part in many international group shows and festivals such as the collection exhibitions Face to Face. Contemporary Portrait 2015 and It's A Set-Up in the Contemporary Art Museum Kiasma in Helsinki 2010-2011, the Nordic Pavilion in the City States exhibition in Liverpool Biennial 2010, and she has been invited to the Limerick Biennial EV+ A in Ireland 2006.

Johanna Lecklin is a Helsinki based artist. She graduated with an MFA from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts 2003 and an MA from Helsinki University 2008 and made an exchange at Slade School of Fine Art, UCL in London 1998-1999. She is a doctoral student at the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts. Lecklin won the Year Prize of the Artists' Association of Finland in 2001.
